The Power of Human Connection to Create An Impact
We glamorize the rugged individualism in humans like Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, and Bill Gates for being incredible visionaries. Yet, we often forget every one of them had a team around them to make the unbelievable happen.
Where would Steve Jobs be without Steve Wozniak? Elon without Max Hodak? And Bill Gates without Paul Allen?
Who knows. The point is every incredible product, sports team, or non-profit organization takes a collective group of individuals to create impact.
Give Thanks to Those Impacting You
How often do you pause and think about what you are creating for those of you who are creators?
For me, I saw two of my former baseball teammates posting business videos on Instagram and gave me the inspiration to start saying “Good Morning” to the camera every day.
I would never have discovered my love for coaching sports if I didn’t work at the Boys & Girls Club or take a coaching class with one of my favorite professors.
Who inspires you to create, build, and be a better human?
We Are Better Together
One of the biggest mistakes I made last year was thinking I could build EmPact on my own in a new city. I was lonely and lacking the human connection to create with inspiration.
At the time, I had incredible determination to do it myself. I became miserable.
My favorite quote of all time is “if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. -African Proverb.”
I would rather take the scenic route in life while connecting with others instead of blazing 100 MPH and missing the power of connection.
How are you connecting with others to help you create an impact?
