Playing the Infinite Game
Most of the success in society revolves around finite game rules like how well we score on tests, our quarterly earnings, and our social status.
What do all of the above examples have in common?
They have a beginning and an end. We stop learning the subject after the test, we focus on new strategies to make money each quarter, and our social status evaporates when we do.
If we are constantly pandering to the next goal, which will inevitably end, how will we impact the Infinite Game?
What is the Infinite Game?
The Infinite Game has no set of rules or end destination; we can be playing the game forever.
An example of the Infinite Game is improving education for all humans. Until every human being on the planet has the same access to an INCREDIBLE education, we will need to keep playing.
Even if every little human in the world now has access to education, the world is constantly changing rapidly. We will need to continue innovating and creating better education models to keep up with the times.
Play Your Infinite Game
Of course, we have to play finite games like paying the bills or meeting our teams’ goals.
But, we can all play our infinite game. Choosing an infinite game we want to play is like the quote from Gandhi, “be the change you wish to see in the world.”
The infinite game you choose will be the mark you leave here on earth.
