My Why For Being an Educator

My life mission is to inspire humans to reach their full potential and develop into extraordinary leaders who want to impact the world. Growing up in a small community with loving parents and numerous impactful mentors is why I am who I am.
Those impactful mentors led me with a torch to show me the possibilities of being a good human and serving our communities can do for the world. I want to give back to the world by being a role model for future generations.
I recognize the enormous amount of privilege I had growing up and continue to have today. Fortunately, I now have the opportunity to serve as a role model for youth by joining TFA.
I have worked with youth in an afterschool environment for the past five years, coaching basketball and subbing. There is no better feeling than connecting and building relationships with students. Then, watching them flourish and grow through the challenges of being a developing human.
Those moments of growth are reminders to get through the tough times of behavioral difficulties. We are all human and crave human connection from people who believe in us. I want to spend the next two years dedicating myself to a school to develop young leaders who want to make the world a better place.
It’s incredible to hear stories of humans who talk about the difference one teacher, coach, or person can make in their lives. I want to join TFA not solely teach a subject and help students learn. But to help them learn about themselves, develop relationships with their classmates, and discover the possibilities the world has to offer for them.
We all have our unique strengths and passions. But sometimes, it takes a trusted mentor to tell us what they see. If I impact only one student, I feel like I am contributing to creating a better world for everyone.
