Leading With Compassion — Lessons from the Women
Happy International Women’s Day!
Shoutout to my mom for always being my #1 fan cheering me on, showing me how to be a compassionate human, and live life with joy.
Shoutout to my beautiful girlfriend Addie for constantly pushing me to be a better human, reminding me to live a little, and for being the best life partner, I could ever ask for.
Shoutout to my sister, whose curiosity is inspiring, her courage to do her own thing, and her compassion for humans often excluded from the everyday dialogue.
Shoutout to my women supervisors I’ve had in the past, to my lady friends, and all the women of the world!

Leading With Compassion
We often associate leading with our heart or compassion with women. While I believe it’s true, women are better at leading with empathy and compassion. As men, we need to do a better job building this into our leadership capacity.
All humans desire to feel loved and appreciated. In my experience, the women in my life show this significantly. I’m always keenly observing how others interact with each other.
My mom, Addie, sister, and many other women are all excellent listeners who care about humans. Often as leaders, we see the people on our team solely as our co-workers or players. But they are so much more than that. They are human.
Let’s Step Back
As men, we should take a step back and let the women lead. Let’s see what we can learn from them. Let’s find ways to add their leadership skills to our playbooks.
Women have been doing it for years; we have been too stuck in our ways to notice.
What leadership characteristics do you notice in the women in your life?
