Leaders This Acronym Will Change Your Life
How often do you find yourself bouncing from activity to activity? As a leader, you have many responsibilities ranging from home life to managing your people.
You are a person who cares deeply about your people, going above and beyond at all times for them. But then there comes a time when the people at home and the workplace need you. What happens next? Who do you prioritize?
This acronym will help you prioritize the present moment. It is making a profound impact on my life, and I have only been using it for a few days.
W.I.N — What’s important to me now?
One of the most challenging aspects of being a leader is balancing everything on your plate. You are in the middle of coaching, and you suddenly remember you need to pick up groceries on the way home.
Or you are hanging out with your significant other or family when you realize you forgot to do a work assignment.
It happens to all of us.
So what do we do about it? We ask ourselves, what is important to me now? Now, as in this present moment. If we are coaching or leading our team, then we can’t be buying groceries at the same time unless the team is at the store.
At this moment, making an impact on your team is most important. When are you hanging out with your significant other on a date? Is work the most important thing now, or being present with them?
It’s a powerful question to PRIORITIZE the present moment. Nothing else is really beside the moment right in front of us. What’s important to me right now? Writing this medium post!
The Magical Shift
How often have you said to yourself, “(insert name) just be present, c’mon!”
We shame ourselves when our thoughts wander into other avenues of our busy lives. But in reality, our thoughts are always going to wander. But what can we do to BE in the present moment?
Ask ourselves the W.I.N acronym: what is important to me right now?
